Benevolent Food Pantry

From inception, RCCG, Strong Tower Resource Center had intention to look after families within its fold who were in need especially those that just arrived from Overseas and joined the church. The vision concerning the department was conceived by Pastor (Mrs) Bunmi Oloidi and the vision could not be realized until the year 2004 even though on a small scale, and this vision was supported and encouraged by her husband, Olusola Oloidi and other Ministers. As more committed members joined the department, it was resolved that the department should move to the next level even though the church has no permanent place of worship, and this lack of space hampered the expansion of the department.

As soon as we got a permanent place, Lord gave us a Divine connection to the Food Bank of South Jersey and some other kind and generous people in our community. In November 2010, the Center applied as an Agency for food distribution to the South Jersey Food Bank in order to supply food on regular basis to the needy in our community. Our Facility was inspected and approved in January 2011, just a month after acquiring our present place of worship. In the first three months, seven volunteers including our Pastor went on Intensive training which included the general, the State and the Federal.

On April 14, 2011, the first food order was picked up and the grand opening took place on April 19, 2011. The event was covered both in print and electronic media. During the grand opening, the Center ran two sessions: 12.00pm to 2.00pm and 5.00pm to 7.00pm. More than 70 families were served, made up of 65 seniors, 40 adults and 70 children.

Today, the Food Pantry distributes both State and Federal food every 3rd Wednesday of each month and operates an emergency service 24/7 for family facing food crisis in an emergency situation. During the Thanksgiving of 2011, the Center was able to distribute about 100 Turkeys through the support of South Jersey Food Bank, ACME and some generous Organizations such as Wal-Mart, Shop-Rite and ACME and individuals such as Ms Barbara Cullen, who has been supporting the program since inception and some members of the Church.

The Department turned one year old in April 19, 2011, and it continues to grow stronger and still touching lives in a positive way. Like our General Overseer, Pastor E. A. Adeboye will always say, we have not started. We pray that God will continue to enlarge the coast of the department and grant it more grace to serve humanity. Thank you partners for together we will wipe out hunger!. All glory and honor for the grace to be a blessing.
