BE A GOOD STEWARD
Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also (Matthew 6:21).
Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also (Matthew 6:21).
How you handle money reveals a lot about your spiritual condition. If your treasure is on earth and you are focused on accumulating more and more material things, it is evident there is a heart problem.
It is easy to be influenced by the world and therefore think like the world thinks. The prevalent attitude is, “this is my money, my house, my car; I can do with it what I please.” But you need to embrace a basic biblical truth and that is that God owns everything: “The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof: the world, and they that dwell therein” (Psalm 24:1).
This truth should change your whole perspective. Everything that you have belongs to God and He is blessing you to enjoy it. In fact, if you are His child, you belong to Him in a special way. Paul writes that you are not your own for you are bought with a price. Our body belongs to the Lord. Our mind belongs to Him, our time belongs to Him, and certainly all that we possess really belongs to Him.
While in most cases it is through work that we receive what we need to sustain us, it is God Who gives us the power to get wealth. So as He provides a job and gives you the mind and strength capable of doing what is required on the job, you must give thanks for what He has provided. You then should be a faithful steward of all with which you have been entrusted.
If you are a good steward, you will not live above your means, incur debts you cannot pay, or waste the resources you have been blessed to accumulate. Recognizing your role as a steward—a manager of what God has given you—will not deprive you of liberty but will keep you from being enslaved by the love of money. In fact, you will become a generous giver and find great joy in knowing that God loves a cheerful giver.
Lord, make me a faithful steward of the many blessings You have given me.
TWO OTHER THINGS:
- Heart of Generosity: Gateway to financial breakthrough.
Tell me a man or woman, who is generous and kindhearted, I will tell you a man or woman who will prosper and be favored. Have you noticed; when a man or woman is stingy/selfish, people just manage to tolerate such a person.
Many of us, as we are moving to the New Year, our prayer should be that God should give us generous hearts.
I will suggest the following:
- Tithes: Don’t toy with your tithes. Some years ago, God gave me this revelation: Since I knew my monthly income, I divided my tithes into four, instead of paying monthly, I pay every week. We tried same in the church’s remittances. Instead of paying monthly, we started to pay weekly. I have shared it with many pastors. They are doing so now. It makes it easy for them to obey. You may try it.
- Offering: Purpose to have a minimum offering you will give during weekly service or Sunday services. I have been doing it for more than 10 years now. There is no service that I find it impossible to give the minimum: it ranges from $25-$50 per service.
- Seed offering: Psalm 68:19 says God loads us with daily blessing. A pastor shared this revelation on Psalm 68:19 that as Christian, we must experience daily blessing and the key to it is to sow seed daily. My family keyed to it. We started with $3 daily, later $5, $7, $10 and by January, it will increase to $12 daily, which will be $84 weekly. This is different from offering. You may not have that grace now, start with $15 every two weeks. That will be one dollar daily. Please be consistent. That is the secret.
- First Fruit: It is another way to be blessed financially.
This is just an advise: you can embrace it or you may ignore it. It is a choice. If God gives you grace to embrace it, by this time of next year, your statement will be, pastor you should have told me the above in an elaborate way like this before now.
2. Crossover Service: It will 2 in one. We will start with Holy Communion by 9pm and follow by anointing service. Come with your handkerchiefs. Remember, our theme for next year is Rapid Progress. By His grace, your progress will become steady and rapid
